I'm short of words to say. He wrote my favorite book, Jurassic Park. Along with The Lost World, Congo, Andromeda Strain, Timeline, and numerous other bestsellers. I am usually not affected by the loss of a public figure, but for the first time, I am. Crichton's writing holds a special meaning in my life. The first adult novel I read was The Lost World. And I cannot tell you the numerous times I have listened to the Jurassic Park soundtrack (although he did not write this). He has been an inspiration to me and always will be. I hoped one day to meet him and ask him the multitude of questions I have pertaining to his novels: characters, plots, themes. But I guess that day will never come. And, as with all literature, I am left to decide the meanings on my own.
Thank you, Dr. Crichton for all you wrote, especially Jurassic Park and the character, Ian Malcolm. I will miss you dearly.
